Youth Aerial Program 2024-2025

AGES 10-17 WELCOME!

1st class: Wednesday 5-7:30pm, September 4th, 2024

Last class: Saturday 5-7:30pm, June 14th, 2025

Program length: 10 months

The program includes:

  • Trapeze
  • Lyra
  • Contortion or Flexibility
  • Silks
  • Sling
  • Rope (Corde Lisse)
  • Other creative apparatus like the Tippy Lyra, Cloud Swing, Chains & a newly invented surprise apparatus

+Wednesday 5-7:30 PM Aerial ensemble & team building w/ Coach Candi

+Saturdays 5-7:30 PM Sequencing & Act Creation w/ Coach Candi & special guest coaches

+Make up missed classes in Open Gyms (send email to reserve spot each time)

+Added focus class of your choice from our current schedule (option to switch class throughout season)

+Basic fundamentals – rigging safety, contemporary dance, improv & partner acrobatics. 

+In depth look at – floor & in the air choreography, active flexibility, technique and conditioning; mindfulness exercises, injury prevention, PLUS, special topics such as circus history, how to apply/audition for the big time circus or circus schools & career management.

This program is structured to provide an advanced level of training for individuals who are eager to take their skills to the next level, with a focus on becoming a professional circus artist.

The troupe receives professional caliber circus training and a solid mentor. In addition to training their chosen apparatus at an advanced level, students continue enhancing their aerial, circus and performance skills solo and as a team. Our focus will be on technical development, character, act creation, acrobatics, rigging knowledge, movement quality, stage presence, and preparation for future competitions and auditions. (and all the fun and new friendships that come along with this incredible journey)

Show dates:

December 14th, 2024 – Afterglow Aerial Arts studio – 2 shows 12pm & 4pm, Saturday

April 2025 (to be announced) Afterglow Aerial Arts – Costume & Makeup Workshop + Professional Photoshoot

May 17th, 2025 – Alberta Rose Theatre – 2 shows 2pm & 6:30pm, Saturday (professional photographer + videographer)

June 7th, 2025 – Afterglow Aerial Arts – Solo’s Showcase

June 14th, 2025 – Afterglow Aerial Arts – Troupe sleepover party!

June 26th, 2025 – Alberta Last Thursday Art Walk – Circus theme show on the BIG rig! (Jolene’s outdoor aerial rig + photographer for a sunset photoshoot of show) NEW this year!!!

Cost options:

Early bird special, pay in full $5,950 must be paid 2 weeks ahead of start date.

Two time payment special $3,085 (first payment due 2 weeks before start date, 2nd payment due before January 15th, 2025) for total cost $6,170

Monthly price $650/month for 10 months for total cost of $6,500, due before the 15th of each month, includes all rehearsal fees.

*There is 1 discounted scholarship spot on the team, it can be applied for by a written essay stating why circus/aerial/acrobatics is important and beneficial to you.

REFUND POLICY: No refunds are given for cancellation requests made less than 7 days prior to program start date. Program is non-transferable. If you need to cancel please do so in writing at afterglowpdx@gmail.com more than one week prior. Refund for program is given, minus a $250 fee before 7 days of the program start date (September 4th, 2024), or a credit may be applied to your account.
